In order to be able to give honey, a mother must not only be a 'good mother,' but a happy person - and this aim is not achieved by many. The effect on the child can hardly be exaggerated. Mother's love for life is as infectious as her anxiety is. Both attitudes have a deep effect on the child's whole personality; one can distinguish indeed, among children - and adults - those who got only 'milk' and those who got 'milk and honey.’
—Erich Fromm, The Art of Loving
To all the mamas, to the pregnant goddesses, to the women who are slowly recovering and rediscovering life after birth, to the women with babies attached to their breast, who are up all night (like I am), to the grandmas and all those who support women, babies, and children, I see you. This is for you. This is an invitation to be each other’s community. We need each other now more than ever. Let’s join together our breath, move deeper into connection and embodiment, and offer ourselves the milk and honey of self-care. We are doing such an important job, creating and nurturing life itself. Postpartum time is forever after a pregnancy—even if it’s been many years, we are forever changed.
